Posca

Posca paint markers are water-based, fade-resistant and work on almost any surface: paper, glass, fabric, rocks and more. A go-to for craft, classroom projects, and creative marking. Available in a huge range of nib sizes and colours.

What Makes Posca Different

Unlike standard permanent markers, Posca uses water-based paint rather than solvent-based ink. This means the ink is opaque and shows up on dark surfaces, it is not alcohol-based so it won't bleed through thin paper, and it can be removed from non-porous surfaces like glass while still being permanent on porous surfaces like fabric, paper and wood once dry.

The paint is fade-resistant and water-resistant once dry, which makes it a practical choice for outdoor crafts, signage and anything that might get handled frequently.

Nib Sizes and Uses

Posca markers come in a range of nib sizes, from the ultra-fine PC-1MR (0.7mm) up to the broad PC-17K chisel nib. For detailed work, illustration and fine writing, the PC-1MR, PC-3M (1.0mm) and PC-5M (1.8-2.5mm bullet) are the popular picks. For bolder strokes, signage and filling large areas, the PC-7M and PC-17K are the better choice.

Posca sets are available in a wide variety of colour combinations including pastel sets, neon sets, basic colour sets and full 70-plus colour collections. If you are starting out, the 8-colour or 15-colour set in the PC-5M size is a practical entry point.

Surfaces Posca Works On

Posca markers are tested on paper, cardboard, wood, fabric, stone, glass, metal, ceramic and most plastics. They work well on canvas for art projects. On glass and smooth plastic, the paint can be removed while wet and becomes permanent when heat-set or sealed. On fabric, heat-setting with an iron makes the colour wash-resistant.
